Our stay at Shrigley Hall and Spa

Hey darlings,

Happy 2022! This is my first blog post of 2022 and this time I’ll be sharing my experience of Shrigley Hall and Spa in Macclesfield. It’s mine and Mark’s 4 year anniversary this year so I decided to treat him to a hotel stay with bed, breakfast , dinner and wine, and I also paid for an afternoon at their spa. I’m glad I checked first as sometimes you get use of pools etc included in your room but hotels with spas seem to charge extra.

After having only been on one trip the last 4 years (to Prague) we were dying for a break of some kind even if it was still in the UK.

I decided to pick Shringley hall after reading a LOT of reviews and finding their prices quire reasonable.

We left for the hotel and one of the first things we noticed was the beautiful entrance of the hotel overlooking the stunning countryside and beautiful golf course that they have on site. I can definitely see why this is a popular choice for weddings!

The hotel entrance was lovely with a titanic-esque grand staircase (which of course I had to take a picture on!). Annoyingly the check in wasn’t until 3pm and our spa afternoon began at 1.30 so we had to leave our bags at the hotel entrance and bring our swimming costumes to the spa which had some keyless lockers.

Inside the spa there’s a swimming pool with stunning relaxing blue lights, 3 jacuzzis which meant you didn’t have to wait for ages for a spot, lots of sunbeds and 4 posters as well as a very small sauna and very small steam room. Albeit small they were well used and definitely made me feel refreshed.

With any spa, the drinks were very pricey but overall the experience of the spa was lovely. One of the biggest selling points was the outdoor infinity pool overlooking the green scenery. The weather (as it always is in February) was horrendously cold but thankfully the pool was heated. We got chatting to a few people which was nice and really enjoyed a day screen free.

After the spa it was time to check in. We were told our room was one of the newly refurbished rooms which was so cosy and welcoming. Sadly, there must have been a hen do next door and through the thin walls they were quite loud, that being said we did manage to get some sleep.

As part of the package I booked, we got a 2-course dinner and a bottle of wine. I opted for pork belly then seabass which was lovely, mark had the braised beef and chocolate brownie. The restaurant itself is lovey especially the area where there’s a big faux tree. (Very instagrammable).

The next morning we had a buffet style breakfast with continental and hot breakfast options which was nice.

Overall, me and mark had a lovely couple of days it’s a shame it came and went so fast. It was very romantic and a great option for anniversaries and valentines day.

I did make a vlog of the visit if you want to see more of the venue and also happy to answer any questions you have.

Take care and speak soon
